Public Participation Plan

To: Interested Parties in regards to Tulare County transportation issues

Subject: Development of a Public Participation Plan

The Tulare County Association of Governments (TCAG), the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Tulare County, is requesting your participation in the development of a Public Participation Plan to be used to solicit public comment on transportation-related issues from the citizens, agencies and organizations of Tulare County.

On August 10, 2005, the President signed into law the highway bill - Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient, Transportation Equity Act - A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU). In addition to providing federal funding authorization for a wide variety of transportation programs, SAFETEA-LU introduced additional consultation requirements for the public participation plans developed by MPOs (Code of Federal Regulations, Title 23, Sec. 450.316(a)).

In response to these new requirements, TCAG is requesting your input in developing a new Public Participation Plan to reflect the enhanced outreach efforts required under SAFETEA-LU.
